FORSAID to be featured in a symposium at Living Data 2025

In October 2025, four major institutions in the biodiversity research landscape - TDWG, GBIF, OBIS and GEO BON - will come together as the organisers of the Living Data 2025 conference.

The event is set to be among one of the most crucial international gatherings of the year for experts and stakeholders in the field of biodiversity data. Taking place place in the Colombian capital of Bogotá between 21st and 24th, Living Data 2025 will centre around four core themes:

  • Open data
  • Data integration
  • Biodiversity data application
  • Community engagement and capacity-building

FORSAID is set to feature prominently at the event. On the one hand, the project will be the subject of an oral presentation by Peter Bozakov (Pensoft Publishers) as part of the symposium "Long Live Biodiversity Data: Knowledge Transfer and Continuity across Research Projects (Part 2)". The showcase is titled "From HOMED to FORSAID: Sustaining Forest Health Research across Horizon Projects" and will demonstrate the utility of existing scientific insights in forest pest management when it comes to furthering new initiatives in this context. The session wherein the topic will be presented will take place on 23 October between 10:45 and 12:45 (UCT-5) in the Caldas room.

Moreover, one of the keynote speakers of Living Data 2025 will be Dr. Rudolf Meier, Team leader for FORSAID from Museum für Naturkunde – Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Science (MfN). On 23 October as well, he will deliver his own talk, "Accelerating Biodiversity Discovery Through Innovative Technologies" to the conference's plenary.

The event will also see FORSAID materials being prominently displayed at Pensoft Publishers' dedicated stand (#9 on the map) on the exhibition floor. You can find out more about Living Data 2025 and its agenda on the official website.
